Haywire (2022)

Media: monotype on handmade paper

Statement: I poured a large sheet of (mostly kozo) on which I made a monotype by inking up the parking lot tar loops. I want to convey the dynamic quality of the intersecting lines. Once dry, I altered the image by covering or adding translucent handmade paper to the surface.

Keeping Track (2) (2022)

Media: monotype on handmade paper

Statement: I have long been fascinated by the rich graphics of the tar loops created to repair asphalt. Inking up my favorite configurations, I gently pressed kozo sheets onto them. Back at the studio I assembled them, veiling some areas with translucent sheets before hand sewing them into this collage.

Outer Face (2022)

Media: ink, thread on linen wetlap

Statement: My desire in this piece was to mimic the overlapping design of some bark surfaces, and create some areas of visual intensity. Using a heavy flax paper, I machined sewed each module for a linear element and edged each with ink, before sewing it all together onto a backing sheet.
