John Wittenberg

4:58 PM (2022)

Media: pigmented abaca, flax, cotton, mica

Statement: These works draw from the physical world;how light and shadow play on surfaces, the way that nature cycles between growth, decay and renewal. The combination of pulp and mica allow me to mimic nature as thing are wet then dry, changing their shapes and reflecting light in many subtle ways.

Winters End (2021)

Media: pigmented cotton, mica

Statement: Part of my ongoing series which is based on the farm fields of the North Fork of Long Island. I have been fascinated by the constantly changing light which plays over newly ploughed and barren fields. The random patterns formed as the elements carve and polish the rutted surfaces.

Vanishing Point (2021)

Media: pigmented, cotton, flax, abaca, mica

Statement: An additional work in my ongoing series exploring the shapes, forms and textures of the farm fields of the North Fork of Long Island.
