Joyce Gold

Collection 4 (2020)

Media: handmade paper

Statement: During the pandemic I felt like I was a survivor and had to search within my boundaries to fit my needs. I call this series 'Collection'. A collection of textures, various pulps, shapes, and bundles of handmade papers to show a variety of paper elements and what paper can do.

Collection 6 (2022)

Media: handmade paper

Statement: I love the process of making paper and how paper will sometimes take a life of its own. With that intent, I experience personal insight with chance, serendipity, and synchronicity with the materials I use. This becomes my creative journey to create the finished work.

Obsolete Collection (2022)

Media: handmade paper

Statement: With google maps and online people search, phonebooks and maps are becoming obsolete in our everyday lives. In this piece, ’Obsolete Collection’, I included fragments of maps and phonebook pages to call attention to this disappearing paper. In this collection is a ‘collection’ of fibers, molds with various papermaking techniques.

In 2014 Joyce Gold’s paper artwork was awarded first place in Houston’s Visual Arts Association Juried Invitational Exhibition, awarded 2nd place at Arnold Grummer’s 2021, “Paper on the River” and Merit award at the Morgan Art of Papermaking Conservatory’s 2022 “10th Annual Juried Exhibition “Introspection/Retrospection”. Joyce’s work also was selected to be in the Fiber Art Now magazine for State of Health and Emerging Artist showcases, published in November, 2020. She has sold her artwork to collectors across the U.S. and her work has been selected in many exhibitions across the nation. Joyce’s studio is in Denver, Colorado.
